EL Personal Recount.
My name is Taufiq. I’m 15 this year. I was born at Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital on 13 October 1993(Wednesday). In a family of five, I have Me, my parents and two sisters aged 22 and 23. When I was small, I was mistaken for a Chinese boy as I was really white. The logical explanation of it is due to my great grandparents on both sides having to have married other races; I have 3 types of blood flowing through my veins the very time you are reading this post. It includes Arabian, Chinese, Malay.
My family never had a stable home until the year 2000. We home-stayed in a bungalow at Carmichael Road which was owned by my dad’s boss. We then moved to my late-Grandfather’s house which was at Serangoon and home-stayed there as well. We then moved again yet to my late-Grandmother’s house at Queenstown and finally landed ourselves permanently at Sengkang which was then I was aged 7. Since I was a little boy, I didn’t actually noticed that it was a hectic life I had when I was small. I would go to the playground and mingle and play all the small kiddy games we used to play. I was the youngest and only son in the family. Having it to be a 9 year gap from my sisters, it wasn’t much of a great experience. But everytime i get hurt they would always get the blame. When I was like 2-3 years old I was REALLY skinny. I weighed like a sack of rice. The wind could blow me off the floor. My sisters would rush to me and tell me to stop crying as it was their responsibility to take care of me. Across the road there would be a bungalow. I always gazed and stared at it even though i did not know why. Then there would be a guard dog, big and scary, barking at me and I would just stare at it. I still remembered that i threw a rock at it and it ran away and came back barking louder.
When I was around 4-5, I went to a kindergarten called Pertapis. It’s now changed into a rehabilitation facility and home for juvenile kids. During my 2 years there, I was really independent, when it was nap time, I couldn’t help myself but not to sleep and on every wednesday it was a food which had something to do with peas which I dislike. I was posted to North Spring Primary School. I was very carefree in that school. When in Primary 1 , I was very timid on the first day of school but I didn’t have my mother with me so I went in there by myself. At primary 2, I had an infamous fight with a girl. It ended up me cutting small bits of her hair and my torn and tattered shirt. I'm not that too sure but i think she is in the same school as i am now. :I
I made new comrades yet some forgotten due to lost handphone numbers, enjoyed myself in my primary years. It wasn’t as boring of a school as it would be. I choiced myself with soccer as a co-curricular activity when I was im primary 5. When I was in primary 5, I really took interest in science even though I did not know why. At around primary 6, my parents flooded me with assesment worksheets and yet i did not do any of them. They are still packed nicely, unopened but dusty.During PSLE examinations, I was too lazy so, I am where I am today. Bye :D
